Super Bowl XLIX Spectacular

Just last year the 2014 Super Bowl XLVIII garnered 111.5 million views and over 25.3 million tweets were sent out during the game. Advertisers take note of America’s most watched program and use this time to get your attention, pulling out all the stops and creativity to get you tweeting about it for the next week.

Studies show that 50% the reason so many people tune in are for the Super Bowl ads and the star-studded half time performances. This year advertisers paid an upwards to $4 million for a thirty second spot on air.  Strategic Media Decisions states that brands “put their messages in the public…and on the sleeves of pro athletes, and even in the clouds” especially on this broadcast.

During the Halftime show we realize that the Super Bowl isn’t all about the football, wings and beer, but that it’s also about the music. Coming from a family that rarely ever watches NFL games, this is always my family’s favorite part to watch.  The theatrics from Katy’s performance did not disappoint and we couldn’t help but giggle when the song Firework came on because of its recent appearance in the movie The Interview.  And all the meme’s I’ve seen on Twitter will probably make Katy Perry regret that flame dress. Other Twitter viewers pointed out she resembled a familiar friend, Chester Cheetah.

According to the New York Times, these Super Bowl ads got us talking:

1. Mophie
"When your phone dies, God knows what can happen" and we see just how crazy the world is when our phones die and even God is as addicted to our phones as we are.

Kim Kardashian pokes fun at all herself and at us and all the Kim K selfies we'd miss out on limited data.

3. Loctite
Super-glue never felt so awkward or funny! This ad had me at the fany packs and hit all the right notes with the ending "Loctite saved our marriage," I never knew super-glue had that power!

This ad has swirled around the Internet for a while, but it always tears me up. This ad was inspiring and nevertheless-the most tweeted about ad last night.
